Clean beauty products I love
Pomegranate pigmented lip glaze. Eye shadow made of kaolin clay. A bronzer stick enriched with jojoba oil & green tea. Clean beauty isn’t just nontoxic - it’s nourishing. I can’t wait to share a few of my new favorite products that make me feel good about wearing makeup. No more anxiety over sharing drinks with our precious toddler, or worrying about his little hands grabbing onto my freshly contoured cheeks.
If you’re like me, you might be a little confused when it comes to “clean” beauty products. Each company has a different set of standards, as does each country. Some of the makeup products sold here in the US are illegal in other countries. It’s widely agreed upon that ingredients such as parabens, phthalates, and synthetic fragrances should be avoided - but there are other, lesser known chemicals (& many of them) that are still up for debate.
I’ve learned that, in order to truly feel confident in the products I’m wearing, I need to do the research myself. Thankfully there are some great tools at our disposal (hi, internet!) that make finding healthful products not only possible, but fun. I’ve mentioned EWG a few times before - they are a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing consumers with valuable information regarding product ingredients and their potential health effects.
While they promote only a small list of companies that they deem “EWG Verified” - they have a whole database of skincare and makeup products and rate them on a scale of 1-10 based on ingredient concerns. I use their Skin Deep website to research any products I’m interested in buying. They even have a “Build Your Own Report” feature that I use often, where you can plug in the ingredients and it will break down the hazard level of each chemical.
In my countless hours of research, I’ve been encouraged to discover so many beauty brands who share the same goal of producing quality, nontoxic makeup that not only feels good but looks amazing too. These clean beauty innovators are changing the world of makeup and helping to spread the word about the harmful effects toxins can have on our bodies and households. I hope you enjoy discovering these natural, nontoxic products and have a chance to try them for yourself!
100% Pure’s Fruit Pigmented® Lip Glaze
100% Pure is one of my new favorite beauty brands. They have an entire collection of fruit pigmented makeup including a brow builder colored with green tea & a cocoa pigmented bronzer. I recently bought their Fruit Pigmented® Lip Glaze in the color Sultry and I’m in love! It has a luxurious, creamy application and smells (and tastes) amazing - probably because it’s made up of a blend of berries, cocoa, & stone fruits. I cannot wait to try more products from this natural brand. Stay tuned!
Rejuva Minerals’ Multi Purpose Powder (Eye Shadow)
Similar to 100% Pure, Rejuva Minerals uses natural minerals & botanicals to color their powders. I am using their pressed powder as an eye shadow, but it can also be used as a liner (wet application) or as a brow filler. I bought shades Beach Bum, Mocha Latte, and Brazilian Brown and am very happy with their application. Having used eyeshadows from Tom Ford, Dior, Urban Decay and countless others - I can truly say these shadows perform just as well if not better than the others. I love that Rejuva is EWG verified, Made Safe certified, & cruelty free. I’m looking forward to trying their eye & brow pencil next!
W3LL PEOPLE’s Supernatural Stick Bronzer
Once you go stick bronzer - there’s no going back. While there are plenty of cocoa pigmented, natural powdered bronzers out there, I had a tougher time finding a clean cream, stick bronzer. I found W3LL PEOPLE on EWG’s website and noticed many of their products were EWG verified. Their minimalist products are on trend and help to achieve that fresh, no-makeup look. I love that the stick bronzer contains a hydrating blend of jojoba and sunflower seed oils that make the application extra smooth.
Beautycounter’s Illuminating Cream Highlighter
I remember a kind friend told me about Beautycounter years ago, but I wasn’t a mom yet and hadn’t given much thought to skincare or makeup ingredients. It wasn’t high on my priority list. Today, I’m so thankful for Beautycounter and all that they are accomplishing in the clean beauty space. Founder Gregg Renfrew’s mission is to make safer beauty products accessible to everyone & the company is actively fighting for more health-protective legislation in the US and across North America.
Beautycounter’s Illuminating Cream Highlighter stick is beautifully pigmented and gives the perfect glowy, finishing touch to any makeup look. I love that the jojoba esters & shea butter make the application super smooth and the formula extra creamy and blendable. I also tried Beautycounter’s Sheer Genius Conditioning Lipstick and Beyond Gloss and am loving both!
Vapour’s Soft Focus Foundation
A radiant, glowy foundation enriched with frankincense, lotus & myrrh? Sign me up! I appreciate that Vapour is super picky with their ingredients and exclude over 1400+ banned ingredients from their formulations. They ethically source organic beeswax for their products and incorporate various botanicals to nourish the skin. Vapour’s goal is to celebrate every person’s unique skin tone, so their “skin-honoring” foundations are light to medium coverage. I’m very happy with the fresh, dewy look I get from their Soft Focus Foundation.

I’m still so early into my clean beauty journey, and know there is much more to learn. But I’ve been encouraged to discover these brands who have done their research, and are creating a variety of healthier products for us to choose from. It helps to make the switch to a cleaner beauty routine that much easier. I’d love to hear your thoughts on clean beauty - have you started to make the switch? Are there any clean beauty products you’d like to shoutout? I hope you enjoyed learning about these new favorite products of mine!
